The Evelyn "Evie" M. Scoville Fund

Evie Scoville (1963-2023) was very connected to the Charlestown community, including through her Membership in Gardens for Charlestown.  Evie and her daughter, Laura, were committed volunteers at the Gardens, where  for several years Evie served on the Board of Directors.  Evie was known for her welcoming smile, her commitment to inclusiveness, and her love of all things Halloween.

In January 2024, the Board created the Scoville Fund in recognition of Evie and her many contributions.  The fund seeks to:

  • ensure accessibility to the Gardens by subsidizing Membership Dues for those with financial needs;

  • sponsor individuals to participate in GfC events and activities who might otherwise be excluded; and

  • partner with other organizations to promote inclusivity and accessibility.

In 2025, Gardens for Charlestown will use monies from the Scoville Fund to support a member of the Boston Childrens' Chorus ("BCC").

BCC's mission is to harness the power of music to connect Boston's diverse communities, cultivate empathy, and inspire social inquiry.

BCC serves more than 3,000 children between the ages of seven to eighteen.  Tuition is on a sliding scale based on household income with four out of five singers receiving financial aid.

Through travel and specially-designed pre-tour education programs, singers' lives are changed as they learn about foreign cultures, connect with their histories, and form friendships.

Gardens for Charlestown is excited to support BCC and help fund the tour of a BCC singer in 2025!
